Specifically, we explore the period of "Trade Capitalism" from 1350 to 1815 and examine its profound impact on the subsequent era of "Total Capitalism" that emerged in the late 1980s.

Journeying Through Three Remarkable Sub-Periods

Within the broader context of Trade Capitalism, this study focuses on three distinct sub-periods that shaped the entrepreneurial landscape of the Netherlands. The first sub-period, spanning from 1350 to 1580, illustrates the ascendancy of the country towards becoming the world's first modern economy. Moving into the second sub-period, from 1580 to approximately 1670, known as the Dutch "Golden Age," entrepreneurship reached its pinnacle. Lastly, from 1670 to 1815, economic stagnation and declining trade marked the third sub-period.
